Woodsom Farm

Four hundred acres of open space, purchased by the Town in  1989.  The property consists of hayfields, wetlands, marshes, and drumlins bordered by the Powow River. The land houses a diverse population of birds, including bobolinks, bar swallows, rock doves, and meadowlarks.

The Woodsom site has been farmed since 1790 and at one time was the largest Dairy Farm in Essex County.
The last Indian Powwow in the area was held at the farm in 1993, the first of what were conceived as annual meetings honoring the memory of Quiet Bear.
