Captain's Well

The Captain's Well is the subject of one of Whittier's best known poems, which tells the story of  Captain Valentine Bagley's shipwreck and his vow to dig this well.  Today, bronze plaques on a granite monument memorialize the Captain's deed. The monument is located to your  right as you face the Middle School.
